Title card design
07/05/21
This week we're trying to focus on the first scene of the animatic and getting all the shots complete. I have 2 shots however one heavily relies on the 3D animatic so I cant really make a start n that one until its complete. The other shot is also almost entirely CG except for the titlecard, which will fade into the shot. I began to look into designing a logo for the film. I wanted to have a fun logo that links back to the themes and events of the animation.
My main inspirations for the title card was Adventure time and OMORI, as they both have very stylised titlecards that have elements linking to the episode/ world. I also took inspiration frm the Bojack Horseman logo as it was something a bit more simple but still having an element of stylisation with the horeshoe being incorperated into the letter C. I ended up doing this with the dot of the i in 1 variation of the title.

I did have a quick look into ocean related motion graphics however ultimately I liked having a more cartooning title and to just have it fade into the shot.

I asked the group for some feedback and regular show was an inspiration thrown out there. I decided to try and create something with a similar style.

Regular show inspired title card design
For the first one I draw lineart over a sketched blocky text with my mouse instead of stylus to try get a shakier look to the lines. For the second attempt I did the same but with my left hand holding the stylus tablet instead, both gave me a pretty cool effect and captured the look I was going for. Because the two ended up being very similar looking I decided to see what one would look like with a filled in drop shadow similar to titles 2, 4 and 5 while having the rougher look. Personally I like the look of title 6 a bit better as I think the uncoloured drop shadow does help it pop a little more, and I think that will also be true when the background is the rendered and 3d Shot.
