2D animation progress & notes
We made a start on the animation process today in class, some things we were told to keep in mind was what comes before and after the shot, what the context of the shot is, referencing back to character bibles, using video reference for complex shots and character acting.

We were also tasked with getting some feedback on the animatic so get some outsider perspective
The feedback I got from my friend was:
The feedback I got from my friend was:
"I liked the drowning motif as well as the eyes staring at him the most I guess. Though I'm a little confused as to whether he's actually being stared at or if he's just imagining it cause of how hyper aware he is rn (I'm assuming that's what the shots of all the other customers eating are supposed to be showing us. That all his senses are overloaded). If it's all in his head, I think small shot of the girl looking around and seeing everyone else acting normally and being confused as to what's happening would sell that more. The ending feels a little rushed. Them kissing on what I'm assuming is their first date seems odd (unless it isn't their first date and there's voice acting and dialogue to clear that up). The cut to the toothbrushes also adds to that feeling of it being rushed. I think a few more stills of the various stages of their relationship leading up to them moving in together would be a easy fix that wouldn't necessarily be too work intensive? Idk if it would be easy but I think it'd make the story more effective. I like the story and the motifs and it seems pretty cute and fun while also showing how debilitating his fears can be. It may just be that all my doubts/points would be solved later on with animation and sound"
I believe that the start and ending is getting a bit of a rework as a few people were a bit confused by the going on the date aspect and felt the kiss was a bit too much for the first date. While a few other aspects seemed a bit confusing I think that's within the nature of surrealist film, and I don't think we should dumb it down too much
To make the character bibles easier to reference I'm currently resizing them so I can print them off into small booklets to reference, as having a bunch of different tabs is making things a bit confusing.
