Motion Graphics

 29/11/2020

This week I have been working on the motion graphics for my trailer. I wanted to incorporate the style used from the Brooklyn 99 Opening, the white blocks with text intersecting characters, however they would still be moving in my version, instead of the freeze frame style of motion graphics found in Brooklyn 99.

I decided to make some alterations with the motion graphics, originally I wanted to incorporate a Red arrow moving across the scenes, but I felt it might have been to distracting, so I opted to just keep the words and blocks in terms of motion graphics
Having the major moving parts of the character seperated into layers also definitely helped in terms of putting the motion graphics in between different parts of the character. This saved me time in rotoscoping, which I almost entirely avoided, except for the shot with the character Lynn...

With this shot I had forgotten to draw her front arm and gun on a seperate layer, as I mostly seperated the drawingsa based on the movement I wanted to give them with the pin tool. as both her arms were rising together with the gun I decided to draw them on the same layer.
To solve this I cut out the front arm as best I could, as I had already rigged and mapped out the keyframes for the movement, so redrawing would mean having to redo that work, which I wanted to avoid if possible. after that I placed the motion graphics above the main torso/back hand and behind the front hand and gun. this solved the issue pretty well.

I'm close to finishing now, there are a few shots where the movement isnt as smooth as I would like, so next week I'm dedicating my time to just fixing any small details, as well as fix an issue with the sound.
