ARCO Opening

I'm pretty happy with how the opening turned out. It was really cool getting to bring these characters to life with motion, and I feel like animating the characters with pins is a nice in-between from still comic illustrations and a fully animated video, which would have been much more time consuming.

If I had more time to experiment further I would have liked to explore rigging eye blinks into the characters, however that would have been at least an extra 4 coloured layers to keep track of for every character drawing. Lighting effects would have also been fun to explore further, although I did manage to add in a lens flair on the opening shot. I wish I had added more detail into the city, drawing windows on the buildings I feel would have been a more impressive level of detail, but the other backgrounds ended up taking a but longer then I would have liked. having more time to add shading onto all characters would have been nice too, but I just didn't give myself enough time to get that done.

The music, while I feel like it fit well, isn't 100% what I wanted, but after looking through royalty free music for hours I ended up going with what I felt would fit best with the mood and energy of the scene.

I had a lot of fun seeing how much movement I could get with the pin tool, as I felt it allowed for more detailed drawings to have motion, where animating something with lots of details would be very time consuming to do well. I really like how the ending shot of the pinboard getting shot turned out. this was a scene I had imagined early on and it would have been extremely difficult to animate frame by frame.

I feel like I know a lot more about After effects as before this project I had hardly touched the program. Learning motion graphics I feel will definitely be helpful in the future for different projects, as I had always wanted to learn the skill but didn't really know where to start.
