Funding Applications

Primary Aim: To discuss and evaluate what is required to complete a successful funding application/proposal.

Secondary Aim: To identify and explore avenues for funding locally

Key Focus: Evaluate what is required to complete a successful funding application/proposal?


When applying it is important to read the instructions as this will:
-Make sure you supply all the information required 
-Ensure you know how to apply.
-Give details on whether you are eligible or not.
-Avoid frustration from the people receiving information.
-Avoid wasting time.

What a funder might want to know about your project:
-Why you are doing it
-Who you are doing it for
-Potential outcomes
-What your budget looks like
-What benefits will they receive from funding the project
  ~Forms of advertising
  ~Branding
-When and Where
-Time frame
-Current progress 
-People involved
-Target Market / Audience

Including visual images can
- build a case with evidence of planning and progress,
- work as branding,
- express the project,
- be eye catching and makes the project marketable (Make sure images are HD and clean and appealing)
-act as a point of difference
- act as a track record // shows previous experience // evaluation reports

Funding applications should be customized as 
-it will cater towards different funding boards 
-adds personality and thematic coherency to the project 
-acts as a point of difference
-boards often talk to each other so making them personalized may help 

-Avoiding jargon can be useful as this will make your project accessible and easily understandable to the board of funders. they may not have expertise in your field so explanations should be understandable. 

-Make sure to apply to funding boards that are relevant and appropriate to your project. make sure to be transparent about any other applications to different funding boards.

-Referees will ensure your character and can vouch for you if you are unknown to the funding board or have no track record
