Background work

Now that I've finished the character lineart in my comic I'm focusing more on the backgrounds. there have been a few shots from my thumbnails where I felt it looked quite flat, and I really want to improve on my backgrounds as I feel they need some work.

Firstly I erased the old backround and created a perspective ruler, from here I created a basic city block. I took inspiration from brooklyn style brick buildings. I felt pretty happy with the composition of this panel now but I wanted to add more details to give it a better feeling of being lived in as well as being torn up from the conflicts in the story.
some elements I decided to add were cracks, boarded up windows, powerlines and the reclamation of nature with overgrowns and overtaking plant life.
