Equalizers and Reverb are the most common tools used to manipulate audio. Equalizers effect the frequency of an audio file, Reverb focuses on the reflection of noises as it bounces off surfaces.

For my sound analysis I decided to go with a battle scene from the movie Madoka Magica Rebellion.
this fight scene takes place using a frozen time mechanic and I think its really interesting how they show that through the animations sound design. Madoka Magicas OST is also one that I really love, and has a mix of orchestral music with backing vocals. The track used in the fight features a lot of bass, electric guitars and drums to add a high energy feeling to the scene. The fight also takes place using guns, the bullets being fired getting partially frozen in midair until time resumes. This is shown through the sound design by having the noise of the bullets travelling through the air fade out with no bullet impact sounds until time is resumed. The volume of the reloading and bullets being fired also changes depending on the characters whereabouts and distance from the character, which helps to create a sense of depth within the shots. There's also a really cool swishing sound affect made whenever a character jumps, while it isn't realistic I think it adds a cool effect. similar sounds can also be heard when a character is traveling through the air. Near the end of the fight all of the clanging fades away as both characters pause, out of breath. I think its really effective to show these characters are at their limits after the fight. when time finally resumes the bullets ricocheting off various materials all make different sounds, which is another cool detail that gives the scene more believability.
While time is frozen the sounds all have a kind of muted feeling, which I think helps to sell the environment and how it is being affected by the time dilution magic.
