Comic concepts and moodboard drawings
We were tasked with creating a concept piece of writing that could be used for the premise of a comic, as well as writing out the idea we had planned if we had gotten  that far. I was originally set on using my 3D animation character for my comic, so I had a basic outline of what I wanted to cover. The idea for the first exercise ended up as something I thought would be really fun to draw, but there are a lot of small details and plot points I would really need to work out.
-an abandoned cityscape where people scavenge objects from the past. One little girl collects rare objects from around the city to sell. She lives in an old abandoned library and has a fascination with technology, while she scavenges, she looks for parts and tries to rebuild technology and inventions from the past. One day she meets another kid in pristine clothing who looks lost. He's from a secluded community who managed to survive whatever happened in the past and live comfortably, but he got kicked out for discovering something he shouldn’t have. She manages to trick the other kid and steal his technology to try and figure out what it is and how it works, but he eventually convinces her to team up in exchange for more information.
While I thought the characters and setting would be fun, I feel like Id really need to develop the plot, where I already have a pretty good idea of what I want to do with my 3D character.
-A government agency is developing an AI war machine to infiltrate the neighboring country and committing espionage. The decision is made to disguise these AI as children to help avoid suspicion as much as possible. Before these weapons of destruction can be released and smuggled into society the AI must learn functions and how to act as a child to blend into its surroundings and to bug test any issues in the code. Android 005 is currently held within a facility disguised as a factory within the neighboring country. Before the war protocol and commands can be installed into the android the facility is discovered and breached by the government. The decision is made to monitor the android child and study the technology, which is passed onto a scientist working for the government. As well as studying the android's behavior, he must become a caregiver to her too, as the government wants to ensure the android continues to function normally. She is aware that she is a robot, but because she hadn't been given any commands or had any dangerous code added to her, she functions mostly like a normal child. The other government is aware of the asset they have lost and desperately want to recover android 005. An Agent is tasked to protect android 005 and the scientist full time. The android girl mistakes her for her new mother and the two are commanded to commit to pretending on order to study the development of the AI.
After this I decided to draw out some of the ideas and the images in my head I had for the character designs. They first started out as silhouettes before I decided to draw the out with more details and a basic colour scheme. I then sketched out my 3D character in my own art style, and then a more angular style to start exploring if I should look into different stylistic choices for my comic this year.
