Land of the lustrous manages to blend 3D animation with a 2D aesthetic really well, which is why I wanted to study the structure of their 3D models. The animation is really fluid too, and works well with the complex crystal hair. I also really like the bright colours used throughout the character design and the more basic form of their bodies.
This article highlights some of the behind the scenes processes and partially unrendered shots of the 3D models used in houseki no kuni.

The legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Over the break I have been playing Zelda:BOTW in my spare time, and I really like the 3D models used. Because my character is a girl I want to try use Zeldas character model as a reference. I like how the shadows work to detail the features of her face, and there isnt an abundance of detailing or textures in the model. The colours are also a really nice balance between being eyecatching and colourful but not too oversaturated.
My Hero Academia: Ones Justice

Ones Justice is another game I own. while I havent played it a lot it has a similar aesthetic for what I want to achieve. as these 3D models are based on 2D animated characters/ Manga characters I feel like I can learn how to translate an illustration or 2D concept work into a recogniseable 3D model.
I feel like the thing that will be most difficult to achieve is creating a good looking profile of the characters face, which is what I wanted to practice and study with these three different productions.
