Tale of tales
Declared the best animated film ever made in 1984
The story consists of different fragmented pieces of memory that make up one interlinked story
The film makes use of The techniques and technology that Yori Norstheyn is known for

The film I chose to watch was the Herron and the Crane
Heron and the crane (1975) followed the courtship between a male and female crane. One thing I reallt liked about the short film was the use of layering throughout the set design. By having multiple layers it really sold the depth of the scenes, which was also helped by the lighting of the scene, with background elements faded into the background and harder to see, as if there were fog within the scene. I really enjoyed the lighting techniques used in the firework scene, especially the shots swapping between a front and behind view of both birds.
