Value paintings and textures

 
Today in class I exported the individual frames from my work in progress animatic in toon boom. I then exported these layers and created flat values in grey scale. I really want to work on the contrasts and details before worrying about colour.

 The furthest back layer is one of the lightest and has a faraway mountain and waterfall. I managed to achieve this look thanks to the texture concept art brushes I've been experimenting with over the last few weeks.

The next layer features the bulk of the mountains and a drawbridge and abandoned castle. I wanted to add elements that would show this was a lived in world. I also used similar texture brushes to unify the mountains on this layer with some of the mountains in the background. I still need to work on the texture of the castle and adding smaller details in once I have finished the base textures of all the layers.
