Eye Rigging in Toon Boom

In class we learned how to rig a characters eye as well as how clipping masks/cutters work. This will allow our character rig to be expressive and move its pupil around while having it clip within the eye area.

Using the drawing substitute we created different blinks with the upper eyelid drawing layer. This included Fully open, slightly less open, partially closed and two different closed layers. Different blinks can be selected in the character rig by scrolling through in the Drawing Substitute menu in the Library Tab.

We also learned how to rig eyebrows and use Overlay layers to create a green screen over the eye of the character
The eyebrows can be animated using curve deformers and can be used to give more expression to a character, and helps to push the expressions further.
Because it was hard to see what I was doing I hid the front hair master peg to clearly see underneath when setting the curve deformers and masking out the areas above the eyebrow on the Overlay layer.
