Concept brush experiments and Deadlines
Over the past week I have been refreshing myself with Concept art and the different tools and techniques that are useful to the medium. One way I did this was through experimenting with concept art brushes and blending tools on Clip Studio Paint. As well as creating swatches I did quick tests like sketching, creating a value thumbnail and quickly sketching assets and objects that I felt might be in the Nature based concept art animatic.

Using Vaughan Ling as an example, If you look closely you can see the different textures, brushes and blending methods that contribute to concept art and give it an extra sense of depth and semi realism.
I swatched all of the brushes to get a quick feel for how they all work, excluding any brushes used for lighting, which I want to mess around with once I have a better understanding of lighting layers etc. The same YouTube channel has a video on Lighting specifically which I plan to watch and follow along with to get a better idea of tips and techniques, as well as layer types and values etc.


I quickly messed around with some values before painting back into it using multiply layers. I feel like this is a really good way to separate the layers into distinct sections which will make the painting easier to divide and create an animatic for.
I also created a helpful sheet to help keep me on track for the Think and Create exhibition date, which will be Monday the 14th of October. I think putting together and animating the layers might take a while cause I havent done it before, so I would like to spend at least 2-3 weeks on that. Creating the layers I'm more familiar with but I feel like if I want to create an end product I'm happy with I'll need to spend a few weeks on it, which is why I'm giving myself 4-5 weeks on that.
