2D Coverpage Ideas and background Research
For the Cover page design for my pitch bible I wanted to make it different to the poster that I made for Story boarding, but I did several sketches for the poster design which I really liked, so I tried redesigning and sketching some new ideas for the cover page.
I wanted to use a design for the comic cover, and I still like some of the concepts I came up with. Since its been several months since I did the initial sketches, I decided to redraw them to see my progression.

I also feel like I've gotten much better at drawing and coloring backgrounds since I had a lot of practice in my digital class, so I really want to make something new to test how much more that I've learned.

I really enjoyed working in a line less style, so I might try to incorporate that into my backgrounds. One of my artist models I used was Sylvain Sarrailh, who creates really beautiful lineless concept art, which I wanted to try replicating. I really love the bold colours she uses in her pieces as well as the lighting used throughout her works. Her ArtStation has a lot of her work which I find really inspirational.
I did also use lined styles in my digital portfolio and I liked the effect of that too. I already started doing the line work for 2 of the shots so I think I might stick with that style, however I really liked the effect when the line art was colored, so I'm likely to incorporate that into my backgrounds for this animation, that way the line art of the character will also stand out against the background too.
Art models and Influences from other Animated series:
Gravity Falls

I also want to look at what other animations have done with their backgrounds so I can take inspiration from them. I really love the background art for gravity falls. Especially the colour palette and lighting. Its also an art style that uses thicker line art, so I feel like my personal art style could work with something similar
Bojack Horseman

Bojack Horseman also has linework but its much more uniform with a fixed linework. The art style incorporates mostly flat colours with cell shading as well as textures and patterns for certain materials within a scene. I feel like this kind of style would be easier to replicate and might be something I need to consider since I have a few different backgrounds in my animatic that I created last semester
Aggretsuko

Aggretsuko is another show that I wanted to look at because it also takes place in an office environment and has a simpler style. The show makes use of mixed line width and soft gradients, which I might try to use to make environments look less flat without shading taking up a lot of time.
Adventure Time

Adventure time also has a lot of really diverse fantasy based backgrounds, which could be useful to look at for scenes occurring within the dreamscape where Deedee fights in. The art style also features coloured fixed lines and cell shading, but the lineart is really thin and blends in well.
