World Animation
1920
George Studdy
Pioneered the commercialization of animation and created cartoons for publications like newspapers and magazines. One of his characters "bonzo" became popular enough to sell merchandise, which landed him a deal to create a series of animated short movies.
Germany
Walter Ruttman was an early animator who created a theory termed as painting with time, also known as abstract cinema. I found his works to remind me a lot of screensavers and aesthetically pleasing images/videos/gifs that can be frequently seen through the internet. His works are accredited as having meditative and hypnotic qualities.

Lotte Reiniger is a director I looked a tiny bit into when I created my proposal for next semester. I was aware of her works because her film is commonly referred to as the first full leature length animation, and also because it was cutout, although had more to do with shadows.
The Adventures of Prince Achmed was created in 1926, however Reiniger also created several other films, like an adaption of Cinderella .
Hans Richter
Combined live action film with traditional animation as well as more advanced filming techniques
created a series of short films
Viking Eggeling
left Sweden for germany where he was funded by a german film studio with his early experimental films
Berthold Bartosch
Moved to berlin in 1919 and collaborated with other animators of the area
Moved to paris later in 1930 and created the Idea
used panes of glass and multiple layers of paper to create 3d and lighting effects
UK / Hungary

Halas and Batchelor were a duo of animators responsible for making animated propaganda films for British war effort. The two believed that animation was an art for that could be used for good for the war efforts. I really enjoyed the artstyle and aesthetics of the short animation Automania 2000 that we watched in class. I might try to incorporate aspects of the artstyle into the stop motion projects next semester.

Dots
I really enjoyed this animation, and it felt like something that could have probably come out recently. There isnt much point in it other than just watching the dots and what they do. I found it pretty relaxing and it reminded me a lot of the other types of painted on film we watched earlier on in the year and how they have a kind of 'screensaver' quality to them.
China
Wan Brothers
were Chinese pioneers in animation
they created the first animation studio Uproar in the studio in 1924
Princess Iron Fan
Jaoan
Kenzo Masaoka
Created first japanese animation with sound in 1933
Established his own small studio
Spider and The Tulip

I liked watching this short, it definitely had a very early Disney style to it, and I liked the smoothness and simple quality of the animation.
Some of Masaokas other works included
Toybox Picture Book and Momotaro vs mickey mouse
