Pixar in a box: Storytelling and Storyboarding

Line
Line is often used to convey different meanings and emotions within the frame. rounder lines are meant to represent friendliness, while straight lines represent order, and shaky or violent lines can represent fear, panic and instability

Shape is also used in the design process to represent different personalities and meanings. similar to lines, circles represent calm and friendly things, squares represent stability and triangles are seen as sharp and threatening.

For my character Deedee, her design is made mainly of squares and circles. I think this fits her characters quite well because she is a hard worker and dependable (represented by squares) but still is very people oriented and friendly (represented by circles)

Space
Space can be used to give emphasis to a certain object, setting or person in a scene. Using space can also give a scene a sense of depth and can help guide the viewers eye to the most important aspects of a scene.

 Motion
Lines can often be used to show motion or speed in even still images, as well as what type of motion it is. curved lines can show arc motions, while straight lines are usually fast motions moving in one direction.
 Tone
Tone is a good way of of drawing the viewers eye through creating contrast within a scene. Darker tones can also show darker moods, vice versa with lighter tones.

Colour

colour can also be used in a similar way to tone, to create an overall mood within a scene, to create contrast, and to add interest to a scene.
