Character Poses WIP : Deedee

Currently in our animation class we are working on character poses, as well as an 8 Point turnaround, Character bio and expression sheet. The criteria for the poses is at least 4 fully lined and fully coloured dynamic poses, but the the character I am designing has 3 costume changes, all of which I want to highlight and practice drawing in order for it to be easier for me to start eventually working on my animatic and other animation projects. Instead of 4 poses in total, I have decided to do 2 poses in each costume, making that a total of 6 poses all together.

During the sketching process I created 5 poses for each costume, then narrowed it down to 2 poses for each costume. I wanted to make sure the poses were dynamic and interesting without making it too hard to read. To keep this in mind, I tried to silhouette out the poses to see if the action was clear or not. I also made sure to try and incorporate lines of action within my work, especially with her secret Identity: Dream Warrior.

After I had refined and selected my poses, I moved on to Lining the artwork. It was a bit of a struggle getting used to the different brush tools in Toon Boom, as I am used to using either Photoshop or Clip Studio Paint for illustrating, so The first drawing I finished I spent quite a while cleaning up and fixing small mistakes, but as I continued with the other 5 poses it began to come to me a lot more naturally.
After  I had finished drawing and cleaning the lines, I moved on to the colouring. with the close gaps option and paint unpainted tool I managed to almost fully cover her Office outfit except for a few props/accessories .
What I've done so far I've found really fun. Coming up with more dynamic poses that showcases the personality of your character can be challenging, but I feel like it really does improve the end product, even if you end up drawing a lot of sketches that you wont end up using in the end.
