First Drawing Class

Today was the first lesson of Drawing, and I found it refreshing to go back to the basics of drawing shapes, shading and observational skills. It was quite challenging getting used to the charcoal, as I usually draw with mechanical pencils, so the range of shade you can get it is quite nice, but its harder to add more precise details. There's also the added challenge of not being able to erase mistakes, meaning you have to really think about what you put down and where its going. Working on an easel was also a rather new experience for me, as I'm very much used to drawing on desks and horizontal surfaces. I'm looking forward to improving my traditional drawing skills further this year, as well as my observational skills and expanding my visual library to aid in illustration and animation.
